A Constant Contact alternative for churches on Planning Center.
Constant Contact is email marketing for any small business, with social posts, ads, and events alongside. Butter does one thing, the church newsletter, and builds it from Planning Center. Here is how to tell which fits.
Constant Contact details from its own pricing page, checked October 2026.
The short version
Choose Constant Contact if
- You email more than your church: a school, a business, or events that sell tickets.
- You want social posts, ads, and texting in the same tool.
- Your church doesn’t use Planning Center, and you want automations like a welcome series.
Choose Butter if
- Your people are in Planning Center, and you want your lists current without exporting a file.
- The weekly newsletter is the main thing you send, and you want it to look designed without designing it.
- You send more than one email a week and want one price however often you send.

FAQs

Does Constant Contact work with Planning Center?
Not directly. Neither one offers a built-in connection to the other, so churches export a file from People or link them through an automation tool like Zapier. Butter connects to Planning Center itself, and every People list becomes an audience.
Is there a limit on how many emails I can send?
In Constant Contact, yes. Each plan includes a monthly send limit tied to your contacts, 10 times your contacts on Lite, and sends over it cost $2 per 1,000. Butter doesn’t count sends, so an extra event email never changes your bill.
Does Constant Contact have a nonprofit discount?
Its pricing page says nonprofits can save up to 30% by prepaying for a year. Butter’s plans are priced by contacts, with unlimited sends; see Butter’s pricing.
Can I move my list from Constant Contact to Butter?
Yes. Export your contacts from Constant Contact as a file and import it into Butter, leaving out anyone who unsubscribed. If your people are in Planning Center, connect it instead, and your People lists come in as audiences.
Does Butter have automations?
No. Butter sends newsletters, not automated sequences. If a visitor welcome sequence matters to you, Planning Center People can send those, and there are welcome email templates here.
